One Sunday night, during football and guy time, I decided to search on my Kindle for a free dystopian novel, and was immediately absorbed into this one. It was also remarkably appropriate for this time of year, because very early on you find out America has been brought to it’s own destruction by a second civil war. Democrats and Republicans become so divided that they resort to killing each other.
Anyway, this was a very fast read, I couldn’t put it down, super action packed. It did seem VERY similar to the Hunger Games, but I have absolutely no problem with that. Like the “Games”, it is the first novel of three, and they’re dubbed the Slaverunner Trilogy. Arena Two just came out a month ago and I’m dying to buy it, but I have SOOO many other books to read. AND, I noticed the author has also written vampire novels (The Vampire Legacy series? ) A friend of mine said they were free as well on kindle, I haven’t checked yet though. But, I’m getting off topic here…
Jane Boleyn was the sister-in-law to the Lady Anne, married to her brother George. She actually survives the execution of both, and continues to be a key player in Henry’s court up until his fifth wife Catherine Howard. Very detailed accounts of Henry’s court, and the ends and outs of the life of a lady in waiting. When I read that this was Julia Fox’s first novel I could not believe it. I love books based on historical biographies of royalty-CAN’T GET ENOUGH.
OK…I FINALLY finished Burned! YAY…this one was a struggle for me, Stevie Rae is not my favorite character in these novels so it was kinda dull. I prefer Aphrodite, personally. Then I hit the last several chapters, and there was all this build-up and then BAM-the end. Talk about a cliff-hanger…I ordered the next one as soon as I put this one down.
I hope you are all enjoying your fall,
